Christmas Kindness

On a more personal note, this year Perilight Graphics is trying something new! Since most of my days are spent being a mom, I thought I'd use some of my graphic ability to teach my kids a few things! This year at Christmas we have decided as a family to come up with 12 things we can do to show kindness to other people during the month of December and leave this card when we do.

Our hope in doing this is to take the focus off of ourselves - off of what we're going to get and what we want - and to put it on other people and addressing their needs. These things don't have to be monumental or expensive. Sometimes it's the small, quiet acts of kindness that mean the most.

Here's our list for this year:
Shovel someones walk anonymously.
Bake treats for neighbor & Ding Dong Ditch them.
Collect all the change in the house and put it in a Salvation Army red bucket.
Buy something fun for the school secretary.
Deliver dinner anonymously to someone.
Give hot drinks to Construction workers.
Deliver stuffed animals/toys to a Domestic Abuse Shelter.

Bake cookies and deliver to local Fire & Police Stations.

Make ornaments for Grandparents.

Send a card to someone just letting them know you're thinking of them.

Donate books to a library/school.

Buy some Helium balloons and hand them out to random kids.

We invite you to join us! Start a new tradition in your family. Spread some love. Resonate Kindness and Glorify the one who has given us everything! Anyone is welcome to download this card for free and print it at a local photo shop. It's 4x6 in size and should print like any other photo!

I love this song by Brandon Heath. It really gets you thinking about opening our eyes to the needs of others. So many people we pass every day need our help. How often do we actually stop our busy lives and help. Our prayer is that others will pass on these acts of Kindness and bless others this Christmas Season!

Many churches have missionaries all over the world and are looking for ways to display information about particular missionaries within their church. This idea could be used many different ways to display lots of different ideas. This poster is using India as an example but it could be modified for whatever country your church supports. It could also be modified to be a brochure, highlighting several missionaries all over the world. Think of all the possibilities!

Walk for Diabetes T-shirt Design

I was contacted earlier this summer to design a T-shirt for this little girl Audrey with Type 1 Diabetes. On September 18, 2010 they are walking in the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes and wanted to have T-shirts to wear that day! Here is the design we cam up with! I love using the font Pea Deva McQueen from Kevin & Amanda's font for Peas! I love their fonts! This one had perfect doodles that were just right for this design. Check it out!

Recently we had Memories by Mandy to do a family photoshoot for us! I think the kids did pretty good for the freezing cold conditions! It's so hard to predict the weather! But it was lots of fun to get out there with Mandy and try something new! She was sooo patient with our kids...especially when we had to take a couple of "time-outs" to readjust and dry some tears! Thought I'd use some of the new photos to get inspired on some new designs! Thanks Mandy!

Pictures in the Park

I had fun designing this new Halloween Flyer for Memories by Mandy! They contacted me to do a flyer for their Halloween Event. I love the black with the bright colors and just a little bit of of Halloween mixed in!

Here is a little info about their event!
They are hosting a Pictures in the Park Halloween Event on October 13 from 3-7 pm! This is a great chance to get pictures of your little ones in their costumes! The cost is only $20 for a 15 min session and you get a CD with all the pictures on it. They will have a Halloween Themed Setting to take the pictures with at the Park and it should be a great place to have pictures taken of the little ones in their costumes. Check it out and tell your friends!

I've been working on some new Christmas Card ideas...if you had an idea for a card I'd love to hear from you! This is your chance to "ask" for a design in a sense without having to pay for the new design fee! Thought you'd like that! Folded Card Design for a Birth Annoucement

I love how this card turned out! This is a folded card design for a baby boy birth announcement. The browns and teals in this card go so well together. This design could easily be done in pink and brown for a baby girl! I love the look of the wide card format. We left room on the inside to personalize the card and send it as and announcement and a thank you. So many moms are so busy after the baby is born and its nice to be able to do two things with one card! Saves precious time and money!

Wedding Thank You Card - Folded Style

This couple contacted me to do some Thank You Cards for the wedding. They wanted to be able to write something on the inside but still be able to show off pictures of the wedding. We left part of the inside right of the card blank (see below) to be able to personalize the Thank You! They chose to do their card as a 5x7 but there are other card sizes available.

Someone contacted me about doing a "Barbie Island Princess" Birthday invitation! Sounded fun to me! I thought these too invites turned out very cute! I love the subtle peacock feathers in the first one and the more pronounced feathers in the second one. If you have seen this Barbie - you will definitely recognize those feathers! I had to try one that was more pink and the other was fun to focus more on the teal and purple! What little girl wouldn't love these!
